Zelma Katherine Weathermon

August 16, 1921 — March 9, 2018

Walla Walla

Zelma Katherine Brower Weathermon passed away peacefully on March 9, 2018 after suffering from a stroke. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the family dog.

Zelma was born on August 16, 1921 in Milton-Freewater to Winnie and Lillie Brower. She married Delbert Weathermon on March 15, 1941. They had two children, twins Darell (Bud) and Caroll (Sister). She was beauty operator and then an office manager for Follett Veterinary Clinic working for Neil Follet and Bob Hutchinson. She was very active in the twin’s activities including den mother for the boy scouts and 4-H leader for Sister’s Buttons and Bows 4-H Club. Zelma was an early member of the Blue Mountain Riders, the 49ers Riding Club and Pinochle card group of ladies that met for many years.

One of Zelma’s greatest joys was her family. The family named her “Princess” early on. She prided herself on being the mother-in-law that was always included in family trips to the beach, Mexico, Reno—wherever Bud and Sister and their families traveled.

Zelma spent many summers at her cabin on the South Fork of the Walla Walla River, Sharing this special spot with family and friends. Three of her grandchildren, Sandy, Sunny and Jason loved the times they traveled to Walla Walla to see family and spend special time with grandmother at the cabin. Zelma traveled from cabin to cabin visiting her neighbors on her Harley golf cart. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren teased her that they couldn’t get her off her Harley so they could have a turn at the helm.

Zelma is survived by her children: Bud Weathermon (Kathie), Caroll Hardesty (Dave); five grandchildren, Sandy Ikemeir, Sunny Schillar, Jason Schillar, Peggy Kunz and Keith Weathermon; and three great-grandchildren Sadie Ikemier, Caitlin Weathermon and Rhett Kunz.

Zelma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Delbert and sisters May Harlow and Patsy Griffen.

Princess you are so missed….
