William Dean Pancake

August 19, 1965 — July 18, 2013

William Dean Pancake passed away peacefully at the age of 47. Bill was born in Walla Walla to Jacqueline Marie Locati & William Joseph Pancake.

Bill graduated from DeSales High School in 1984 and founded Jacobi’s Café in 1988 which is located on the National Historical Registry, Northern Pacific Train Depot in Walla Walla. After selling Jacobi’s Café, he returned & finished his college education at Eastern Washington University where he received a degree in psychology. Upon returning home, he worked for Panco Construction Incorporated (family business) for 8 years. His next venture was owning/operating Creek Town Café starting in 2002 until sold in 2010. He loved cooking, entertaining, the company of family & friends, hiking and traveling.

Bill is survived by his father, William Joseph Pancake & his wife, Janie; his sister, Kim Kmetz; his two nephews, Brendon & Levi Kmetz; and several aunts, uncles & cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Marie Locati Pancake; his grandparents, Jacob & Mary Pinza Locati and William Finley & Julia Ione Pancake and his cousin, Terri Lynn Moeller.

There will be a private family graveside service on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 with Sister Rosalie Locati officiating. A Celebration of his life will be held at Jacobi’s Café at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in which family & friends are invited. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walla Walla Catholic Schools through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
