Rev. Wesley C. Harris

July 24, 1955 — July 4, 2014

The Rev. Wesley C. Harris, 58, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Prescott Valley, Ariz., on July 4, 2014. His best friend, Kevin O’Connor, said it beautifully: “He experienced True Freedom on the Fourth of July.”

He is survived by his wife, Connie; his mother, Shirley Musick of Walla Walla; sister JerriLynn Musick Lawson (husband Dan) of Texas; brother, Frank Harris of Washington; two sons, Richard Harris of New Hampshire and Jerry Harris of Washington; his stepdaughter, Chelsey Stanko of Arizona; his grandchildren, Josiah, Willow, Nathanial and Blake; nieces, Michelle Arko of Portland, Kara Foster of Mercer Island, Tiffany Harris of Portland, Samantha Lawson of Texas; aunt, Bev Kuljis of Walla Walla; uncle, Sonny Hubbard of Newark, Calif.; and six great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Franklin Harris; stepfather, Gerald “Jerry” Musick; aunt, Velma Riley; uncles, George Riley and Jack Kuljis; and numerous cousins.

Wes was an ordained minister and had a master’s in social work. He had a heart for people, and had a way of endearing himself with his funny, gentle, loving manner.

A celebration of Wes’ life will take place at Blue Mountain Community Church, 928 Sturm St., at 2 p.m., on what would have been his 59th birthday, July 24, 2014. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or charity of your choice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
