Wendi passed away peacefully at home after a yearlong
battle with cancer. Wendi overcame many
health challenges in her life and she faced this final
battle with the same positive attitude and clever
wit that has always made difficult times easier on
those around her. Wendi dedicated her life and career
to helping others. She always cheered for the
underdog and wanted the most for those facing the
biggest challenges. After receiving her master’s of
science in education from Western Oregon State
College, Wendi worked as a public school speech
therapist in Klamath Falls, Ore.; Vancouver, Wash.;
and College Place. Not having children of her own,
Wendi invested her energy and love in the children
she worked with at school and those of her friends
and family.
Wendi is survived by her mother and father, Sharon
and Dennis Kytola of Ridgefield, Wash.; her brother,
Kevin Kytola and his wife Stephanie of Walla Walla;
her nephews, Trevor and Will; and her grandmothers,
Roberta Kytola and Margaret Kohlschmidt,
both of Vancouver, Wash.
The Kytola family would like to thank friends and
family who have provided much love and support
this past year. A special thanks goes out to all of the
wonderful professional care-givers at the Providence
St. Mary Regional Cancer Center– their knowledge
and compassion were greatly appreciated. In lieu of
flowers or gifts, donations can be made to the Providence
St. Mary Regional Cancer Center, through the
Professional Funeral Directors and Crematory, 315
W. Alder, Walla Walla, Washington.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, Aug.
27 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Memorial
Gardens in Vancouver, Wash.
(www.evergreenmemorialgardens.com).
