Wayvallea "Wave" Dianne Massey

August 31, 1944 — August 30, 2023

Walla Walla

Wave was born to John Massey and Gwendolin Parrott on August 31, 1944. She died on August 30, 2023, at home in Walla Walla.

Wave attended Berney Elementary School, Pioneer Junior High and graduated from Walla Walla High School with the Class of 1962. She was a lover of history, books and motor scooters. Known for her humor and quick wit, a teacher once assigned her class to write an essay entitled "Why Wave Is Funny."

The following is a quote from Wave after the deaths of several close friends before their time: "l just can't help but believe, even through the tragedy of the deaths, that we are the lucky ones. It seems to me that when it's all said and done and they start checking through our pockets, what they are gonna' find is a pocket full of fun. When it's all down the road, we will be the successful ones. The giggles is what we should be countin' and our giggles mileage is high. Yep, we know how to live."

Wave will be greatly missed by friend and companion of 48 years, Joan Aragone, of Walla Walla, niece, Tracy Shea and family, of Walla Walla, nephew, Virgil Frazier and family, of Brookings, Oregon, and the many dear friends she made throughout her lifetime.

Gifts in memory of Wave may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice, 1067 E. Isaacs Ave., Walla Walla, Washington 99362.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.herringgroseclose.com.
