Walter Eldon Varney

Walter (Roy) Eldon Varney passed away at the family home on July 12, 2026, at the age of 91. Roy was born in 1934 in Joseph, Oregon. In 1954 he married Juanita Nell Ballard. Roy and Nell were married for 67 years. In 1964, Roy moved his family from Enterprise, Oregon to Dayton, Washington. During his life Roy had many occupations before opening Varney Plumbing and Heating in Dayton. Roy received many awards including Businessman of the Year and Kiwanian of the Year. Roy was an avid sports fan. He spent many years running the chains for the Dayton FB team. Throughout the years, he enjoyed watching and supporting his children and grandchildren in all of their activities. He was also a big fan of Dayton HS, Gonzaga, the Seahawks and the Mariners. Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling with his wife and the rest of his family.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Vester, Violet and Otis; his wife, Juanita Nell; his granddaughter, Krista; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Roy is survived by his children: Debra (Varney) Field, Michael Varney, Kelly (Varney) Hinderer; his grandchildren; Tanner and Rachele Hinderer, Austin and Christy Hinderer, Jaimee (Field) and Tim Pollan, Katlyn (Varney) and Matt Wolf, Michael Field, and Michael and Liz Dimercurio as well as may great grandchildren.
