Violetrose E Ringhoffer

Violet Carlson Ringhoffer (Rose), born Feb 1923, passed away August 3, 2022, in Walla Walla at the ripe old age of 99.

Rose was born in Kelso and moved to Yakima when she was 8. Rose graduated from Yakima High in 1941 and moved to Seattle, where she met and married Frank Carlson. Together they raised two sons and one daughter. As a stay-at-home mom, she was very involved with Cub Scouts, Brownies, and served as the local PTA President.

When Rose and Frank divorced, she began employment with the Black Angus chain of restaurants. In 1974 she moved to Walla Walla to become the manager and met a frequent customer and local attorney, Stephen Ringhoffer. They married and began their busy life together, constructing, decorating, and managing five buildings they leased to government agencies. Rose and Steve lived life with gusto, traveling both for business and pleasure until Steve's death in 1995.

Rose was an active member of Pioneer Methodist Church and enjoyed participating in their mission work. She was also a member of Narcissa Rebekah and Enterprise Odd Fellows Lodges. She volunteered frequently for the Odd Fellows Home, where she lived out her final days.

Rose is survived by her two children, Larry (Connie) Carlson and Sylvia (Bill) Hershberger; her three stepdaughters, Myra (Doug) Hoane Eisert, Mary (Alan) Haltiner, and Margaret (Jason) Billingsley; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, and her son, Mike.

Rose loved a party! She made a celebration out of every get-together with friends and family. She loved to dance, swim, play cards and just be with friends.

A memorial will be held at Pioneer Methodist Church in Walla Walla on September 24, 2022, at 2:00 - 4:00 PM, and in Seattle at Olympic View Church on October 22, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pioneer Methodist Church or the Odd Fellows Home through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W Alder St, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
