Vickie Jo Dickenson died April 8, 2024, at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane, WA. Vickie was born on October 16, 1953, to Mary Jane Dickenson in Heppner, OR.
Vickie moved to Milton Freewater to be near family. She loved watching baseball, whether it be her sons or Mariners. Anyone who visited was treated to either home baked cookies, candy from the jar, a hug or good conversation.
“Vickie was our counselor, our friend, our caretaker and our Big Sister. She was like a mother to Colene and I, she was there when no parent could be found. It is no wonder she was a good mother to Jason, Greg and Tim. She had practice, we will miss her every day.”
Vickie was Mom to many more adopted children over the years.
“A mother sends us upon our way with love and wisdom but is always there when we stray.
But now your work is over, it's time for you to rest. So lay your head upon His shoulder and be at peace.”
Vickie is survived by her sons, Jason Vinti and Timothy Vinti (Christina) of Walla Walla, and Gregory Vinti of Pendleton; sisters, Lori Straley (Jay) of Florence, OR and Colene Welford of Hermiston, OR; brother, John Kempf of Irrigon, OR; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, six nieces, and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM, at the Whitman Street Shelter at Pioneer Park in Walla Walla.
