Vernon Lawrence Perry was born July 29, 1934, to Ezra and Christie Perry in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Granite High School in 1952 and attended an electronic technical college to earn a technician certificate in 1954. He worked for an appliance distributor in Salt Lake City until 1961, when he moved to California to start an electronic controls business with a close friend. In 1971 they sold the business to a corporation and merged with the food processing equipment company Key Technology located in Walla Walla. He worked in many positions over his 39 years with Key including the Vice President of Quality Assurance and Director of Research and Development until he retired in 2000.
Vern was a man of many gifts; brilliant, creative, caring and friendly with a quick humorous wit. He was frequently laughing and always with a twinkle in his eye. He enjoyed many hobbies and interests including camping, fishing, woodworking, lapidary, pottery, jewelry making, and ham radio.
He and his wife Joan enjoyed 65 years of marriage, traveling all around the world and enjoying many cruises. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather; steadfast and devoted to his family. Vern was a talented man of integrity in all his endeavors who was greatly loved and will be missed very much by his family and friends.
He is survived by his brothers Max and Dale, his wife Joan, his daughter Suzie and his
son-in-law Tim Temple, his daughter Kim and son-in-law Dan Vine, his granddaughter Breanna, and grandson Tyler and Fiance Chloe Ropner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters Joyce Carroll and Donna Huff, and his son Douglas Perry.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at the Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens.
