Thomas Lee McIntyre, 66, passed away May 14, 2016,
at home in Walla Walla surrounded by family. He was
born in Portland.
He grew up in Mississippi, where he began his career
as a Police Officer. He later moved back to Oregon,
where he continued to serve as a police officer for a total
of 30 years of service. As a young man he enlisted
in the Navy during the Vietnam War and later served
in the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Stole McIntyre; as
well as a daughter, Stacy McIntyre from a previous
marriage to Jackie Linn, with whom he had two children,
Stacy McIntyre and Thomas “Eric” McIntyre.
He was preceded in death by his son, Eric. In addition
to his daughter, Tom’s surviving family includes his
sister, Janice Krohnke; three grandchildren, Miah
Nystrom, Olivia Holm and Joey McIntyre; niece, Suzane
LeMoine; and nephew, Ray Rollins.
Tom possessed a delightfully dry sense of humor and
although he never sought the spotlight his low-key
and well-timed wit could stop a conversation in its
tracks. Tom was a man of honor, conscience, and he
always sought to do the right thing.
He loved riding his Harley and made many road trips
with a favorite brother-in-law. When he and Carol
married, some of his motorcycle time was diverted to
riding Carol’s horses, which he tolerated.
When Tom and Carol married he felt blessed to be
welcomed with open arms into the Stole family. He
delighted in Sunday family coffee as well as numerous
family events and holidays.
A special thank you to Melinda Marquez, who provided
loving care to Tom during his illness.
