Terry Lynn Davis

January 27, 1938 — May 13, 2017

Dixie

On May 13, 2017, our Lord and Savior welcomed home, Terry Lynn Davis. He passed peacefully at home in Dixie, surrounded by family, after battling aggressive bladder cancer. Terry was born on January 27, 1938, to Lynn and LaVerna Davis in Hartford, Michigan. As the oldest of five children, he was looked up to by his siblings and often referred to as a “jack of all trades.”

Terry grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, where he met his high school sweetheart Cora May Jordan. They were married on June 28, 1959. That same year he joined the U.S. Army, where he served until 1961. After his enlistment in the Army was completed, Terry and Cora lived in Phoenix for the next ten years, where they welcomed three of their children into the world. They then moved to Dixie, which is where they now call home, and they welcomed their fourth and final child into the world. After moving to Dixie, Terry worked for Jones Scott, Commonwealth, Walla Walla County road department in Walla Walla, and the Walla Walla County road department in Waitsburg, driving road graders, where he retired from in 2003. Terry was also a Volunteer Fire Fighter for Walla Walla County Fire District 8 for over ten years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cora; his sons: Jeff (Lisa) and Michael Davis, both of Dixie; daughters: Nora (Matt) Davin and Judy (David) Stewart, both of Walla Walla; grandchildren: Holli, Andrew, Jordan, and Christopher Davin, Brandee, Kayla, and Sha-Lynne Stewart, Zack and Ashleigh Hubbard, Josh and Nathan Shelley; three great-grandchildren; his Brothers: Dale (Nell) Davis of Walla Walla, David (Kim) Davis of Butler, PA.; his sisters: Mary (David) Jackson and Linda (Chuck) Miller both of Dixie; as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and LaVerna Davis.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Terry’s honor to causes that were close to his Heart: Julianna Sayler’s Medical Fund (www.juliannasjourney.com), The VFW, St. Jude’s or Walla Walla Community Hospice, through Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla.

A viewing is scheduled at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home on Sunday, May 21, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Eastgate Seventh-day Adventist Church on Monday, May 22, at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Dixie Cemetery. Potluck at Dixie Fire Hall to follow graveside service.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hutton and his office, Providence St. Mary’s Pharmacy, Hospice, Eastgate Seventh-day Adventist Church, and the people of Dixie and Herring Groseclose Funeral Home for all the help they gave the family.
