Steven Craig Luckstead

October 22, 1947 — October 27, 2014

Steven Craig Luckstead, 67, of Walla Walla, passed
away on Oct. 27, 2014, at Providence St. Mary Medical
Center. He was born to June Luckstead and the
late Wesley Luckstead on Oct. 22, 1947.

Steve earned a doctorate in medium energy physics
from Washington State University and worked as a
medical physicist with St. Mary Cancer Center. Steve
enjoyed travel and photography. He was an avid reader,
and shared his knowledge of science with articles
written for the Union Bulletin. He was an adventurous
backpacker and road tripped broadly throughout
the U.S. with his family. Most recently he enjoyed visiting
Europe, Africa, China, and South America.
Steve loved his family, and thought that raising his
children was one of the most rewarding experiences
of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Luckstead; children:
Amy and Brian Heinzman of Walla Walla, Marcus
and Abigail Luckstead of Tacoma; Jeff and Jenny
Jo Luckstead of Fayetteville, Ark.; mother, June
Luckstead of Mission Hills, Calif.; sister, Tammy
and Mark Mackey of Malibu, Calif.; eight nieces and
nephews; many friends who loved him; and a soon expected
grandson that he was proudly awaiting.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1,
2014, at 3 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home,
315 W. Alder. Memorial contributions can be made to
the Walla Walla YMCA Youth Sustainability Fund
or Providence St. Mary Cancer Center.
