Stacy Lynn Funk passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2017 at her home. In spite of being just 40 years old, she lived a very full life and was loved by so many people.
Stacy was born to Howard & Sherrill Bierman on October 4, 1977 in Lewiston, Idaho. She already had an adoring big sister, Tia, two years older than her. The family spent some time in California before moving to Pendleton, Oregon. She went to school in Pendleton until moving to Touchet, Washington for high school, graduating in 1995. In high school, she met Sean Vandenburg, who she would later marry in 2000, only to lose him to cancer in 2001.
Stacy married Alan Funk on July 9, 2005. When asked why he asked Stacy out that first time, he said, “She made me laugh”. Stacy was extremely funny and her laugh was infectious. She loved to sing and dance and liked many different kinds of music. She also loved animals and filled much of her free time caring for them. She provided all of the grooming and care for her own dogs, but also would often stop along the road to pet farm animals through the fence.
Stacy had a passion for true crime stories and would read or watch anything to do with crimes and criminals. Many people may not know that she and Alan shared a great curiosity for how things work. Stacy had a microscope and loved to look at lots of different things under it, from dog hairs to bugs. Camping and hiking were favorite activities of Alan & Stacy’s and many of their vacations were planned around restaurants. She loved to try new places. She had a talent for making great meals out of whatever was in the kitchen and loved to bake. Her favorite foods were pizza, Chinese food and ice cream, especially Birthday Cake flavored ice cream.
Stacy used her perfectionist tendencies to do exemplary administrative work for Burgin Mechanical, then later for Agri Pack before finally going to work for Basin Disposal in about 1997. Also, while working at then called Disposal Services, she took a second job as a waitress at the Country Club to save money for her first wedding. She worked at BDI until 2014 when she decided to stay home to take care of her dogs and concentrate on her health.
Stacy is survived by her husband, Alan Funk; her parents, Howard & Sherrill Bierman; her parents-in-law, Gene & Carol Funk; her sister Tia Ward (Jeremy), and her Niece & Nephew, Ciara Ward and Izaac Ewing.
Stacy was very loved and will be missed!
