Shirley Mae O’Donnell passed away December 13, 2012 at Providence St. Mary Medical Center at the age of 76.
Shirley was born in Spokane, Washington to Joe & Sylvia Parkins Schutz on August 28, 1936. She lived with her family in Moscow, Idaho before moving to the Walla Walla & Milton Freewater area where she attended school. She married Lawrence Edwards on September 24, 1953 and they had five children together. They later divorced & Shirley moved to Walla Walla where she met & married Colin (Tim) O’Donnell on May 11, 1975 in Dayton, Washington.
She worked at various jobs throughout her life but her main focus was being a homemaker, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Shirley was still doting & caring for all of her extended family until the last week of her life. She always enjoyed working in her garden & taking care of her yard. Shirley was always taking in stray dogs, cats, horses & an occasional kid.
She is survived by her husband, Tim; mother, Sylvia Brunner; sister, Betty Turley; brother, Bob (Margaret) Schutz; her 5 children, Kay Edwards, Larry (Anna) Edwards, Patty Casteel, Jacquie Frank, Lori Edwards; stepson, Tim (Kami) O’Donnell; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; sister, Karen Reynolds; and her longtime companion that was truly her adopted father, Orville Sherlock.
The Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, Washington with Rev. Steve Morris officiating. There will be a private family interment. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tall Elks Therapy Program through the funeral home.
