Shirley Darlene Irwin was born in Walla Walla to Reuben and Ella Mae Wasemiller, attended Prospect Point Elementary and graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1957. She married her husband Jim Irwin on Feb. 15, 1958. After a brief stint in Kodiak, Alaska, while Jim was in the Navy, the couple moved back to Walla Walla. She worked at Baker Boyer Bank and retired after 21 years, she managed the escrow department.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Kathryn Fisher of Quincy, Calif.; her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Leanne Irwin of Henderson, Nev.; her brother, Gary Wasemiller; two sisters, Eva Myers and Linda Kula, all of Walla Walla; two grandchildren, Courtney Parlour and Bryan Irwin.
Services will be held at Herring Funeral Home, Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at 1 p.m. Visitation hours will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013. Donations can be made to the AMVETS Post 1111, or a charity of choice through Herring Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
