Sergio Jose Orozco

Sergio J. Orozco, 58, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2014 at his home in Walla Walla, WA. He was born on August 24, 1955 to Jose Orozco and Ma Luz Zarate in a small ranch in Guanajuato, Mexico.


At the age of 17, he came to the United States for his chance at achieving the American Dream. It is here where he met his wife Rosalva Mendoza. Sergio worked as a farm laborer in the Walla Walla area for over 40 years. He was a hardworking man and lived to provide for his loved ones. A few years after divorcing his wife, he found a companion, Maria Salud Garcia Garcia.

In the summer of 2012, he was diagnosed with glioblastoma—a cancerous brain tumor. Sergio is survived by his four children; Luz Garcia, Adriana Orozco, Rosi Covos and Sergio Orozco Jr.; along with three grandchildren, Izaiah Covos, Jeremiah Covos and Cristian Garcia; nine siblings and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Services for Sergio J. Orozco will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 415 W. Alder St, Walla Walla, WA. Burial will follow at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens in College Place. Viewing & visitation will be on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W Alder St., Walla Walla, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice through the funeral home.
