Scott D. Sinclair

October 29, 1967 — February 11, 2023

Walla Walla

Scott was born in Spokane, Washington, and spent much of his youth on Air Force bases in Washington, Idaho, Texas and the Philippines. Scott grew-up riding motorcycles, camping, fishing, off-roading and windsurfing. He was happiest outdoors. He graduated from Mountain Home High School in Idaho in 1986 and studied Ag Science at the University of Idaho and Walla Walla Community College. Scott worked for several cattle ranches in Eastern Oregon before getting into the trucking business. He started the Bar 2S Cattle Company and hauled cattle throughout the western states. He was also a talented welder and fabricator, and in 2002, he converted his semi-truck into a firefighting "Tender" (tanker truck) and worked as a Wildland Firefighter with the US Forest Service.

Scott spent his last years traveling the Walla Walla Valley, visiting and documenting the many locations where extended family had lived and farmed - from Russell Creek (1894) to Sudbury, Clyde, Eureka, Pepper's Bridge and Saddle Mountain. He enjoyed genealogy and history and developed a vast knowledge of local history and the settlement of the Walla Walla Valley. Scott was a charismatic storyteller with a great laugh. He had many hilarious stories of near misses and close calls as a truck driver, firefighter and man of the outdoors. He loved wildlife and worked to preserve and restore family land on Saddle Mountain, creating a wonderful photographic record over many years.

Scott is survived by his mother Virgene Thomas Cox (Lewis), brother Daniel Sinclair (Carlota), sister Kimberly Austin (Mike Collins) and nieces Sophia and Aubrianna. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Zeke and Virginia Thomas; his father Gary Sinclair; his uncle Monte Thomas and cousins Terrill and Mitchell Thomas.

A memorial service is planned for friends and family to celebrate his life at the Pioneer Park Garden Center in Walla Walla on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at 1:00PM.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Society through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla, WA 99362. Family and friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.herringgroseclose.com
