Sam was born on October 2, 1934, and was called home by the LORD on January 12, 2023, at the age of 88.
Sam was born beside his twin sister Rhetta Lee at St. Maries Hospital to Jack Robertson and Mary Agnes (Upcraft) Robertson. He was the 7th of 11 children, which included two sets of twins and a set of triplets, all born within 36 months, reaching headlines throughout the state.
At the age of 4, the family moved to Lake Itasca, Minnesota, until Sam graduated from Bermidji High School. He then moved to Dixie, Washington, along with his family. It was then he married Glenda Townsend from Dixie at the home of Morris and Adele Ganguet on April 19, 1957. He was then drafted into the Army in June of '57. Their first child, Susan, was born at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. After the Army, they moved to Walla Walla, where Diane and Rick were born.
Sam worked for Morris Ganguet farming and Ben Hunt welding. He retired from the city of Walla Walla Street Department. He enjoyed his annual trips to the Washington Coast to go clamming, crabbing, and fishing. He loved taking his grandson Isaac along with him, shared memories of Isaac pulling crab traps and shrimp pots. Sam and Glenda always took Isaac with them. He also welded yard art in the form of tractors, birds, and creatures.

Sam is proceeded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Agnes Robertson; sisters, Mary Harris, Shirley Lamb, Lela Wiseman; his twin sister, Rhetta Cowden, and Blanche Robertson; brothers, Allan Harris, Jim Harris, Jack Robertson, Charles Robertson; son, Rick Robertson; grandsons, Kyle Robertson and Isaac Robertson.
Sam is survived by his wife, Glenda Robertson; daughters, Susan Eggers and Diane Robertson; grandchildren, Annie Lovett, Samantha Torres, Nick ( Danielle) Eggers, Cassie Robertson (Isaac), Andy Robertson, Allen Robertson; great-grandchildren, Jody Perez (Arturo), Jullian Perez, Pilar Perez, Alexandria Rosane, Glenda Nito, Mercedes Torres, Kailee and Emily Eggers, Odin Robertson, and Jack Robertson; great-great-grandchildren, Noe Hernandez, Zeveah Hernandez, Vienna Nito Ameliyano Perez; and Sam's brother, Challan Robertson.
There will be a viewing on Monday, January 23, 2023, between 9:00 am and 10:00 am, at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W Alder St. A Graveside service will follow at 11:00 am, at Mountain View Cemetery. A potluck will be held following the service at Blue Mountain Church of GOD, 928 Sturm Ave. We invite you to bring your favorite dish, along with your favorite memories of Sam, to share.
