Ryan Pleasants, 41, of Walla Walla, WA, passed away on January 7, 2024, while on duty for the City of Walla Walla Fire Department. Ryan was an observant man of honor and integrity. He strived to do what was best in everything he did, on and off shift, providing endless encouragement to those surrounding him. His calm, and safe demeanor was a comfort in itself, along with that infectious smile.
Ryan dedicated his life to serving his community. First to those in the Cowlitz County - North Country area as a mountain rescue/EMT for 2 years. That proceeded a 19-year career as a firefighter/paramedic with the City of Walla Walla Fire Department, with a most recent promotion of Firefighter Engineer on his 20th year. He continually showcased his commitment and passion for his work, the community, and his fire brothers and sisters.
Outside of his career, Ryan found joy in being a parent, husband, and friend. No matter how tireless his shifts were, off duty he was always present for his family. He enjoyed playing with his kids, working outside with his wife, and tending to their haven in the country. Camping, lake life, and exploring the countryside with family and friends were his way to recharge. He cherished these moments and created lasting memories with his loved ones.
Ryan is survived by his wife, Racquel (Rocky), and their two children along with his parents, Mary and Gary Pleasants as well as his sister, Stacy and Jason Kronberg and their three children.
A private service will be held on Wednesday, January the 24th, 2024. There will be a public state service on Saturday, January the 27th, 2024, 1:00 PM at The Dietrich Dome at WWCC.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ryan Thomas Pleasants Memorial Fund at Baker Boyer Bank in Walla Walla. Your support will help honor Ryan's memory and assist those in need.
