Ryan was born on May 16, 1983, to Randy and Diana Pierce in Walla Walla, WA, and passed away on April 29, 2026, at the age of 42 in Walla Walla.
Ryan attended schools in Walla Walla, WA & Sequim, WA, graduating from Wa-Hi and Walla Walla Community College with his diploma and an AA. He attended and graduated from Washington State University with a degree in psychology and business administration. After college, he moved to Kirkland, WA, to work at Evergreen Hospital. Ryan then took a job at Providence Hospital in Seattle. He met Benjamin Chan, and they were married on November 27, 2019. They divorced, and Ryan moved to Walla Walla in the fall of 2024.
Ryan continued working at Providence until his passing. Some of his team members described him as a fearless leader, an engaged supervisor, the kind of manager they looked forward to working for, a brother, and a trusted friend. He was a good listener and was consistently there for them. He was a patient teacher who truly cared for others. He was a problem solver who led with a calming voice. He wrapped difficult problems and solutions in chocolate. His sense of humor, gentleness, and grace always left you feeling better after a conversation. Ryan said, “The team made him better”.
Ryan was also a natural leader in our family. He completed our lives by being the most astounding son, brother, and uncle anyone could have wished for. While incredibly generous, loving, fun, and full of laughter, he also loved a good round of roughhousing and enjoyed tormenting us all to no end with his sense of humor, LOL! He cherished gathering our whole family together weekly, either at home or a restaurant, to share a meal and catch up on what was going on in each other’s lives. We love him so fiercely, just like we know, he loved us back the same way. We will miss him more than words could ever say. Our hearts are so broken because Ryan made our lives better simply by being with us. He will be watching over us, always encouraging, and forcing us to be better.
Ryan’s Dad, Randy Pierce, and Grandparents, Ray Pierce, Ron Winn, Myrna Winn, and Frances Pierce-Gibson, were among the family members who met him at heaven’s door.
Ryan is survived by his Dog, Dashi, and his Mom, Diana Pierce; sisters, Amanda and Alex Ewoniuk and Samantha Pierce and Nick Farris; nieces and nephew, Lilli Craig-Ewoniuk, Bailey Pierce, Lauren Ewoniuk, Lola Ewoniuk and River Farris; grandma, Debbi Pierce; aunts and uncles, David and Sandi Winn, Bryan and Ann Winn, Rhonda Armijo, and Kent Boyd; cousins, JD and Meredith Winn, Hannah and Drew Jones, Shannon and Evan Dunn, Logan Winn, Erin Corn, Steven Gilbert, Hayden Severin, Paige and Jason Small and Sydney Cox.
Ryan, you may be gone from our sight, but your spirit will live on in each and every life you touched with your gentleness, humor, light, and grace. We will miss your beautiful smile so very much.
