Ruth Ann (Helm) Hall

Ruth A. Hall, 81, passed away on October 31, 2024, at her home in Walla Walla, WA, after a brief illness. She was born on February 11, 1943, in Portland, OR, and was the second of two children born to Robert Elmer and Kathleen Marie (Walters) Helm.

Ruth graduated from Laurelwood Academy (Gaston, OR) in 1961 and from Walla Walla University (College Place, WA) in 1965, with a BA in Education.

On June 20, 1965, she married James R (“Jim”) Hall in the Laurelwood Adventist Church. She was married for 59 years. After she moved here from California in 1979, Walla Walla became her home for the next 45 years.

Prior to her retirement, she served for twelve years as a secretary for the Wilma Hepker School of Sociology and Social Work.

Ruth was a longtime member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and faithfully led out in many activities, especially those for children and youth. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, gardening, and traveling. She had a wide circle of friends.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; three children, Greg Hall (Dominique) of Beveren, Belgium, Mark  Hall (Danyelle) of Sacramento, CA, and Julie Hall of College Place; two grandchildren, Samantha and Alexander Hall of Sacramento, CA; and five nieces. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Arthur Helm.

A memorial service will be held at the Walla Walla Eastgate Seventh-day Adventist church, 380 N. Tausick Way, on December 7, 2024, at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SonBridge Community Center in College Place.
