Russell Eugene Swingler

Russell Eugene Swingler died May 11, 2013 at the age of 78. He was born August 26, 1934 in Teutopolis, Illinois, the sixth child to Martin C. & Tillie Buhnerkempe Swingler.

Russ served in the US Army at Camp Hanford. He worked many years for the Woodland School District & enjoyed the students. In recent years, he enjoyed occasional trips to Nevada. Russ looked forward to Monday & Friday nights at the Eagles.

Russ was married to Alberta Gay Neil & later divorced. In June of 1995, he married Janet Pomeroy.

Russ is survived by his wife, Janet; 3 children, Barbara Foster of Vancouver, WA, Rick (Sandy) Swingler & Mark (Kelly) Swingler of Woodland, WA; 4 step daughters, Lillian (Clark) Capwell of Colfax, WA, Susan (Greg) Schlenz of Dayton, WA, Barbara (Gary) Vixie of Walla Walla, WA & Trina (Michael) Ralston of Dixie, WA; 2 sisters, Mildred Vahling of Teutopolis, IL and Phyllis Buening of Effingham, IL; numerous grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Wilbert & Harold and 1 sister, Merita.

Viewing & visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Bob Turner officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church through the funeral home. .
