Rosita “Chita” Gonzalez-Berrones, 71, of Walla Walla, left us to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at OHSU in Portland. She was born on Feb. 19, 1944, in Edinburg, Texas. Rosita and her family arrived in Walla Walla in 1951. She graduated from DeSales High School in 1964. She kept a very close bond with her classmates throughout the years.
Rosita lived a life full life of honor and grace and was a pillar of our community. Her family’s restaurant was founded in 1967. In 1984, she took over the running of operations. She was passionate about handling her business, treating her customers like family and enjoyed the bond that she created throughout the years. She was a mentor and role model. Her positive attitude and sense of humor were infectious. Her work ethic was exceeded only by her passion for dancing.
She was preceded in death by her father, Auscencio Gonzalez; and various aunts and uncles. She is survived by her beloved husband, Isidro Berrones Jr.; her mother, Celia Gonzalez Guzman; her brother, Auscencio “Chito” Gonzalez; her children, Raquel Cavazos Pimentel, Conrado Cavazos III, Alejandro Cavazos; step-children, Ileana Berrones Garcia, and Nancy Berrones Ibanez; her grandchildren, Gabriel, Joel, Nina, Matthew, Diego, Angel, Christopher, Brandon, Elizabeth, Madeline, Chelsea, Randi, Jonathan, Victoria, Natalie and Nicole; great-grandchild, Xavian.
The Rosary will be held on Wednesday Aug. 12, 2015, at 6 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla. Mass will be Thursday Aug. 13, 2015, at 10 a.m., at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosita Gonzalez Berrones Memorial Fund through the funeral Home.
