Listen to Obituary

Rosemary Lloyd, age 95, of Walla Walla, WA, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026. She was born on January 9, 1931, in Eugene, OR., to Hazel and Norman Board. She lived in Eugene, Portland, and the surrounding areas, where her father owned various butcher shops.

Rosemary moved to Walla Walla in 1937. She attended Jefferson and Paine elementary schools and then Walla Walla High School. She was extremely involved in school activities, especially music, as she participated in several choral groups. She was chosen to represent the high school and town at the first girls’ state convention in Bellingham, WA, in 1947, which was sponsored by the VFW. She also performed solos at weddings, funerals, and for veterans at the VA Hospital. She studied voice at Whitman College while attending high school and received a music scholarship to attend Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA.

In 1951, she married Dave McCoy, whom she later divorced in 1955. She married William (Bill) Lloyd, of Walla Walla, in 1961. They had previously met while attending high school, where they were both cheerleaders. They married, combining families, then had a child together in 1963, having a total of 4 children. She raised an extremely busy family while serving as a homemaker, participating in all the children’s activities. As a family, they traveled, went on numerous camping trips, were involved in scouts, YMCA, symphony attendance, and numerous sports activities.

Rosemary always had open arms for numerous family pets: cats, dogs, birds, fish, hamsters, horses, a burro, cows, goats, chameleons, mice, and even a pet robin that would come visit.

She and Bill were heavily involved in the family business, Lloyd’s Insurance. She was involved with the Chamber of Commerce, Country Club, Fort Walla Walla, PEO Chapter FT, and various other clubs and organizations. She was also a member of the Presbyterian church.

She often worked during election times at the Walla Walla County Voter Registration Office. As well as at a local CPA’s office during tax season.

After the children left home, she and Bill traveled throughout the US and Europe, enjoying many adventures together. They even sold their home in Walla Walla and lived in an RV for 2 ½ years, exploring the US. She and Bill then lived in Bremerton, WA, and Coeur D’Alene, ID, returning to live in Walla Walla again in 1997. She enjoyed taking long walks, playing tennis and volleyball, as well as spending time in her kitchen cooking and baking.

She and Bill, as well as Nat and Ginger Vale, were active in founding and promoting the Walla Walla Balloon Stampede. She and her entire family, including friends, participated in coordinating and managing the Balloon Stampede. They traveled throughout the US for many years, attending numerous balloon rallies and making life-long friendships.

She and Bill were married for 53 years. Bill passed away in 2014 from Parkinson’s Disease. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her family, especially her husband, four children (and their spouses), and she thoroughly adored her time with her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Alex Lloyd, and their son, Steven Clark Lloyd. Rosemary is survived by her children, Cyndra Lloyd-VanDonge of Walla Walla, WA, Melissa Lloyd (Julie Scholz) of Beaverton, OR, and Jenny Charlo (Dave) of Clarkston, WA; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Judy Board; and many nieces and nephews.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers. They will hold a private family gathering to celebrate Rosemary’s life.
