Roger Lynn Davis passed away at his home on May 20, 2013. He was born December 13, 1922 to Ray M. & Ruth Wamble Davis in Starbuck, Washington. When he was young, his family moved to Walla Walla where his dad worked for the railroad.
Roger graduated from Walla Walla High Scholl in 1941. He worked on area wheat ranches before moving to Seattle and trained to be a meat cutter at Ploes Market. There he met Carrie Long. They were married in December 1944. The moved to Walla Walla then back to North Collins, New York. During the next 7 years, Roger worked a variety of jobs; truck driver for a milk company, assembly line worker at Ford Motor Company and an LPN for the state mental hospital. The family moved back to Walla Walla in 1951. Roger returned to meat cutting and worked for Safeway until retiring in 1972.
Roger enjoyed bowling and was a member of a league for several years. He was a BPOE member. Roger & Carrie were married for 68 years.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Ray (Connie) Davis of Walla Walla and Roger (Donna) Davis of Kalispell, MT; 6 grandchildren, Mark Davis of Tacoma, WA, Kelli Davis of Spanaway, WA, Brian Davis of Yakima, WA, Suzanne Davis of Sandpoint, ID, Michael Davis & Diane Coy of Pompey Pillar, MT; 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife & his sisters.
We will miss his quick wit, life stories & many jokes.
There will be a private family memorial service at a later date.
