Robert John Hergert

Robert J. “Bob” Hergert was born to Katharine (Harding) Hergert and John Hergert. He passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 14, 2018.

Bob attended local schools and graduated from Walla Walla High School. On Sept. 4, 1948, he married Elaine Kittrell, they have been married 70 years. Bob was employed with Pacific Northwest Bell. After retirement from there he became an Agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance.

He was a life member of Elks’ Lodge #287, serving as Exalted Ruler and Chairman of the Board. He was an active golfing member of the Walla Walla Country Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons. He helped coach basketball at the YMCA with his sons. After retirement, traveling, golf and spending time at the family cabin were favorite events. Many winters were spent golfing at Lake Havasu, Arizona. Special memories included traveling to Germany to meet his first grandson; a trip to the Rosebowl was also very special.

Survived by two sons, Robert (Loretta) and Brian (Debi); three grandsons, Andrew, Scott and Todd Hergert; four great-grandsons, Tristen, Jaylan, CJ and Dwayne; brother, John Hergert.

Preceded in death by sisters, Frances Hergert Lasch and Marion Yenney.

Memorial service will be Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home.
