Walla Walla

Robert N. Hartwell passed away on Nov. 3, 2016.
Bob was born March 11, 1936, to Harry Hartwell and
Freida Rittenhouse. He grew up in Walla Walla, and
graduated from Walla Walla High School.
He then went on to serve in the Navy from 1954 to
1958 and was in reserves till 1962.
He married Marlyn Sullins, in Memphis, Tenn. He
spent his career in Memphis working for Wonder
Bread as a baker. He used to like to tell us he made
the filling for Hostess cupcakes and Twinkies! He retired
from the bakery in 1988, and then returned to
Walla Walla where he spent his retirement years.
Bob then fixed up a 1969 El Camino with the help of
his nephews and spent the rest of his time cruising
around in it. He was an active member of the Walla
Walla Cruisers. He and his friend Virginia loved going
to car shows. His beloved El Camino earned him
the nick name “El Camino Bob” and has his trophies
displayed proudly in his home.
Bob is survived by his sons, Ricky Hartwell and Randy
Hartwell. He is also survived by his five grandchildren,
Amanda Bridger, Joey Hartwell, Todd
Hartwell, Lani Hartwell, and Madison Hartwell. He
also is survived by six great-grandchildren.
He was so loved by his family and friends and is going
to be greatly missed!
