Robert Charles Greene

June 18, 1955 — February 10, 2023

Walla Walla

Bob was born June 18, 1955, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Harris Willard Greene and Betty May (Starner) Greene. He started life learning to swim and play on the beach with his older brother, James Ross Greene, in Savannah, Georgia, since his father was stationed there in the Air Force.

In 1959, the family moved back to Wyoming after his dad retired from the Air Force to the Starner family Homestead by Jay Em, Wyoming. Bob worked hard through his early years, helping farm hay, grain, milk cows, work cattle, and fix fences on the ranch. He attended a two-room school at Moore Springs through 6th grade. When the country school closed, he transferred to Niobrara County Schools in Lusk, Wyoming. Bob was a serious student and capable athlete in wrestling and football. He completed his high school career in 3 ½ years.

His early graduation allowed him to begin his Air Force career specializing in communications. After the Air Force, he joined the Wyoming Air National Guard part-time. The demand for cell phones and fiber optics was expanding rapidly, and Bob was busy full-time installing new services around the country for several years. Bob later left the traveling work in Knoxville, Iowa, where he started his own company, Communications Installation, and Service Corporation. He later sold his business and began work in Valparaiso, Indiana.

When the Valparaiso company expanded to Walla Walla, Washington, Bob followed for new challenges and opportunities. He was always a hard worker and ambitious. He also invested in his own cell phone companies in California and Idaho. For the past 15 years, Bob has been employed with Columbia Rural Electric Cooperative. Here in Walla Walla, Bob met the love of his life, his wife and lifelong partner, Teresa (Kinsfather) Greene. They celebrated their marriage on May 10, 2014, on the island of Saint Maarten. They shared many adventures camping, traveling, golfing, and just enjoying each other’s company for the past 23 years. Bob always had a smile for everyone, enjoyed many friends, and had an optimistic attitude. Bob passed suddenly on a beautiful day on his favorite golf hole. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa; Mother, Betty; older brother, Jim (JoAnne); younger sister, Katherine (Glen) Atkins; his beloved furbaby, Meggie Mae; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents and Father, Harris.
