Robert "Bob" Dale Dodgin

November 5, 1954 — October 26, 2013

Robert “Bob” Dale Dodgin, born November 5, 1954 in Los Angeles, California to Ray Dodgin & Gladys (Brock) Dodgin, died October 26, 2013 in Kahului, Maui, Hawaii.

Bob was co-owner & general manager of Liberty Tax Service in Maui, Hawaii and Walla Walla, Washington. He also worked for Jerry Watts for several years in residential construction. Bob was in commercial & residential construction for 40 years. He had a soft, calm demeanor & made lasting friendships with our clients in Walla Walla & Maui.

Bob was a loving & devoted father, grandfather, most loving & caring husband & a friend to anyone he encountered. He would help anyone without hesitation, not asking for anything in return. Growing up, Bob went to numerous grade schools, so his stepfather could follow the construction work, he saw a lot of country side and learned at a young age friendships were important. After graduation, Bob moved to Los Angeles, California where he met & married his first wife, Kim Carver and had daughter, Jennifer.

Bob returned to Walla Walla in 1976 & rekindled a long lasting love with his junior high sweetheart, Sharon Brown, where they celebrated 35 years of marriage on May 25th & 42 years of eternal love, being best friends & companions. A dream almost completed was to retire on Maui on a sailboat.

Bob was a little league baseball coach for 3 years & very involved in his children’s lives. Spending time with his grandchildren, playing or guiding them was so important to him, he was Grandpa Bob. No matter how far away Bob was working, he was always home for our children’s activity, birthday or event. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved the outdoors; boating, jet skiing, snow skiing, skydiving, traveling with his wife, Sharon and going to concerts. We took many trips to the Gorge for concerts, boating & jet skiing with the kids & friends. He rode his Triumph Rocket III to Canada twice for the Triumph motorcycle rally; he loved the ride on his bike so much he rode it to San Diego to have it shipped to Maui when he started working with Liberty Tax there.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon, at home in Walla Walla; his sons, Christopher Norris (Amber) of Spokane, William Maurer, Joshua Dodgin (Kerri) and Robert Dodgin Jr. in Walla Walla; his daughters, Jennifer Viau of Fresno, CA, & Sheena Dodgin of Milton Freewater. Bob loved & adored his 19 grandchildren & 1 great granddaughter. Also surviving are brothers, Donald R. Dodgin in Newport Ritchy, FL & Ray Dodgin of Okay, OK; a sisters, Phyllis McCall of Heavener, OK, JoAnn Capella of Palm Springs, CA & Lisa Dodgin of Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts & uncles. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Dodgin, George & Gladys Maurer; his brothers, Dennis & Darrel Dodgin & a sister, Debbie Dodgin.
