Robert Joseph Bengert passed away on July 29, 2018, at the age of 97.
Robert, born in Greve, Montana to Joseph and Catherine Bengert spent his youth in and around Greve. Robert, while attending Pharmacy College at the University of Montana, was called to serve his country in WWII. Upon returning from his deployment in the UK, he returned to the university where he completed a degree in pharmacy. Shortly after, he moved to Walla Walla Washington where he served his country again as the Chief of Pharmacy for the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center. He remained in that position for thirty years, retiring in 1980. His passion for Fishing and gardening grew during retirement. He pursued both passions throughout the majority of his retirement years.
Surviving Robert is his daughter Sharron J. Hillyer and stepsons Richard and Robert Siddon.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Clara Lotton, Lenora Andrews, Shirley Jacobson and Isabel Fouts. Ruth, Robert’s wife, also preceded him in death.
Viewing and Visitation will be held at The Herring Groseclose Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 4:00pm until after the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 10:00am on Thursday, August 2, 2018, Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
