Robert Clyde Beamer

September 19, 1926 — January 30, 2015

Robert Clyde ‘RC’ ‘Bob’ Beamer of Walla Walla, WA passed away peacefully Jan. 30, 2015 with family close by.

Bob was born September 19, 1926 in Wallace, ID to Clyde Forrest Beamer and Anna Pauline Katinka (Hangaard), the oldest of three children. His family relocated to Chicago at the beginning of the depression and then to his mother’s hometown of Gonvick, MN.

Bob graduated from Gonvick High School class of 1944. While working as a district sales rep for Mars Bars, he met Jean Daggett in Florida. Bob and Jean were married December 16, 1950 in Toledo Ohio. They were married 58 years until Jeans passing in 2009. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. He worked in sales/distribution in the oil & gas field for Clark Oil in Illinois & Michigan and La Gloria in Indiana. Always with an adventurous spirit, Bob moved his family to Montana in 1971. He opened a gas station in Forsyth, MT and later sold it to Westland Oil of Minot, ND and finished his gas & oil career in Montana, North Dakota and Oregon. Still wanting to return to Montana, they came back to Livingston and owned the Melody Supper Club. Besides enjoying camping, horses and the outdoors in Montana, he was an avid reader with a large book collection, dabbled in art, enjoyed playing cards and he instilled an appreciation of swing, big band and jazz music in his children. Bob believed in keeping in touch with extended family no matter how far away or how long it had been since the last time they met, thus his interest in genealogy. Bob was a member of the B.P.O.E. for over 50 years. He had a long tradition of going Christmas “shopping” with his sons on Dec 24th which usually meant going to the local Elks club.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his parents, a brother Lyndall Beamer, a half-brother Forrest Beamer and half-sister Ivanell Tiffin. He is survived by his sister Barbara Beamer of Rockton, IL, his daughter, Cherie (Tom) Meyer of Walla Walla, WA, sons, Bryon (Nancy) Beamer of Billings, MT, Bill (Paula) Beamer of Commerce City, CO; a grandson, Austin Beamer of Billings MT plus numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Walla Walla Odd Fellows Home for their truly wonderful and caring character they showed in Bobs last days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Walla Walla Odd Fellows Home through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
