Rita Marie Gall lived a full life and passed away surrounded by family at 88 years old. Rita lived in the Walla Walla area since childhood, and in College Place for the past 20 years. Rita left us on Jan. 24, 2015, dying from injuries due to a fall.
Rita was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Mott, N.D. Her siblings are Geraine Hansen of Waitsburg, and a brother Francis Fries, who died at sea WWII. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas R. Gall in 2000; daughter, Shirley Remboldt in 2011; and son, Kevin Gall.
Nick and Rita were married Sept. 29, 1951, in Portland. Together they raised nine children. Nick and Rita had a wonderful and loving life together. They were married just short of 50 years at Nick’s passing. Rita was a full-time wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed many things in her long life. She loved to cook and be involved in her children’s activities.
She was on a bowling league and had the highest score of 280, and for many years was on the board at Bowlaway. She loved to play cards with friends and family and had a naturally competitive spirit. She loved going to yard sales with her best friend Gertrude Bogle, and enjoyed sewing for her family. She loved all her children and grandchildren dearly.
Rita was a devout Catholic and a founding member of Assumption Church in Walla Walla.
Nick and Rita’s children and spouses are Shirley Remboldt (deceased), Bob Gall of California, Gary and Teri Gall of College Place, Kevin Gall (deceased), Allen and Sharon Gall of California, Randy and Elaine Gall of Oregon, Jackie and Rick Burnett of Moses Lake, Wash., Michelle Badger of Puyallup, Wash., and Tami and Brian Voudry of California; 14 grandchildren, Ryan and Kelley Remboldt, Allison and Jordan Gall, Cory Gall, Joshua Gall, Shane and Trevor Burnett, Courtney, Scott and Bailie Badger, Nicholas, Carson and Cassidy Voudry.
The memorial funeral mass will be in Spring to bring together all family and friends at Assumption Catholic Church with Fr. Pedro Bautista-Peraza as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Catholic Church through the Herring Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
