Richard (Sandy) Wayne Conrad

Surrounded by family and friends, a truly wonderful, kind, generous and loving man lost his battle with cancer and God took him home.  Of course he didn’t leave until his garden was planted and had given all of his sisters a tomato plant as he did every year.  He loved sharing his “Garden of Love” with all his family, friends and neighbors.  A special thanks to his cronies, Dan Dan, Rick, Denny, Mike and Marty who promised to take care of his garden for him.  He also kept in contact via Skype with his dearest friends, Mike and Jenny Farnham, in Waldron, Michigan talking about his “girls” (garden).

Richard was born on July 10, 1950 to Leo Conrad and Margaret Nelson Conrad and was the 11th of 13 children.  He was raised and lived in Walla Walla all of his life where he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Jeanne Kinter on September 11, 1967.  They renewed their vows on their 25th and 50th anniversaries and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the 2017 Conrad family reunion.  He so wanted to make it to this year’s reunion but it wasn’t meant to be.

Richard is survived by his wife Shirley, son Chad (Trinia) Conrad, daughters Biby Conrad (Doug Fauver), and Trisha Conrad (John Looman).  Grandchildren: Ashley, Madisyn and Jordon (Kayla) Larson; Skylar Looman; Chace and Dallas Conrad; Karissa (Josh) MacIntosh; Kassie Staley.  Great-Grandchildren: Tristan, Loerya, Brycen, Serenity and Conrad (due in September). 7 sisters Geri Holman, Lucy Tiedemann, Sharon Ruble, Carrie Russo, Ginny Wright, Bev (Ed) Barksdale and Nimi (Dan) Moon.  3 brothers: Larry (Jean) Conrad, Jerald Conrad and Delbert Conrad, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters Elverta Jacobsen and Juanita Phillips.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Walla Walla Eagles on 350 S. 2nd Ave.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Walla Wala Community Hospice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St. Walla Walla, WA.
