Richard Quinn Berley was born Nov. 20, 1941, to Eugene and Bertha Wheatley Berley. He died Jan. 8, 2015, at Walla Walla General Hospital. He was 73.
A disabled war veteran, he served in the Navy for 16 years, including several tours in Vietnam. Upon discharge, he worked as a correctional officer for 10 years before being called to the ministry. A devout Christian, he loved the Lord and had a servant’s heart. His greatest joy came from being a grandfather of 17 and a great-grandfather of 10.
Richard is survived by his wife, Frances; brother, Rodger, both of Walla Walla; sister, Sherry Mimms of Temecula, Calif. He raised one son, Bill “Strech” Kern of Walla Walla; five daughters, Ellen Harrelson and Patricia Hays, both of Nampa, Idaho, Samantha Brewer of Auburn, Wash., Carlie Hinirichs of Walla Walla, and Patricia Berley-Crane of Selah, Wash. His parents; brother, Leonard; and two grandsons, were called to the Father before his death.
Services will be held at Bethel Assembly of God on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Assembly of God in Walla Walla through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
