Rena Johnson was born on June 4, 1927, on the Coppei Mountain, 30 miles East of Waitsburg. She was the youngest of six children to Albert and Margaret Hansen.
She was an avid sports fan and played on the 1945 Waitsburg Cardinals Women’s All Star Basketball Team. After graduating from high school she attended St. Mary’s Nursing Training Program. She married Harry M. Johnson on December 5, 1946, and had three sons, Ted, Mark and Eric Johnson. She had six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. She was a business owner since 1954, and resided her entire adult life in Walla Walla. Rena never met a stray animal that she wouldn’t board, feed and love.

Viewing will be Feb. 27, between 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service on February 27, at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery. A remembrance service will be held on Saturday, May 6, at 1 p.m. at Wheatland Village Retirement Center, First Floor Chapel.
