Ralph Taylor passed away suddenly at home from
heart-related issues. He was born to C. Phil and Sibyl
Carter Taylor in Walla Walla. He graduated from
Walla Walla High School in 1960. He later graduated
from Central Washington University in 1979
with a B.A. in criminal justice.
He married Geraldine "Jerry" Duff in October of 1969. They
raised two daughters, Ann Taylor Smith and Katharine
Taylor Collins.
Ralph was a DJ for KTEL Radio for several years
before joining the Sheriff’s office as a road deputy in
1971. He later became a sergeant in the civil department
at the Sheriff’s office. Due to an injury in 1979
he retired.
He was an avid reader and fisherman. He also enjoyed
HAM radio, an interest he shared with several
of his grandsons. In addition, he was a life member
of the Walla Walla Elks Club and a member of Christ
Lutheran Church.
Ralph is survived by his two daughters and their
husbands, Ann and Kyle Smith of Culdesac, Idaho,
and Kate and Dale Collins of Auburn, Wash.; 14
grandchildren; two brothers, David and Maura Taylor
of Aloha, Ore., and Randy Taylor of Walla Walla.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and his
wife, Jerry. A memorial service at Christ Lutheran Church,
1420 2nd Ave., Walla Walla, is planned for June 28,
2016, at 2 p.m. Pastor Joel Ley will conduct the service.
