Preston Brock

With a heavy heart, but a deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Preston “Pete” Brock announces his passing on August 10, 2026, at the age of 85.

Preston will always be known as our beloved “Papa”… a grandfather, father, uncle, brother, husband, and friend. A true patriarch of our family, Preston was a one-of-a-kind man whose steady presence, patient spirit, creativity, and devotion to his loved ones left an enduring mark and countless wonderful memories with everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be remembered for the many ways he showed up for the people he loved.

Pete was born on December 1, 1940, to Estese and Sulla Brock of Baldwin, Georgia, where he lived until early adulthood with his three siblings: sisters Sue Wade and Linda Andrews, and late brother Jerry Brock.

On October 19, 1963, he married the love of his life, Laura Marie Aliverti. Together, they built a family rooted in love, loyalty, hard work, and laughter. He proudly became a father to Kathleen Marie Brock in 1964 and David Preston Brock in 1968. He was a wonderful and loving father who made time for his children, including chaperoning their school trips and supporting them through every stage of life.

Service to others was an important part of who he was. Born and raised in his home state of Georgia, He volunteered as a firefighter in Cornelia, Georgia, for 3 years and later served for 18 years with WWFD No. 4 in Walla Walla, Washington where he made his home for the remainder of his lifetime. His willingness to serve his community reflected his generous heart and quiet commitment to helping others.

Pete found joy in adventure, the outdoors, and the simple pleasures of time shared with family and friends. He built his own Jeep and proudly participated in a four-wheel drive club. He loved riding horses with the Horse Riders 49ers during opening ceremonies for rodeos and parades. Whether he was fishing, bowling, hunting, boating, camping, or watching race cars, he embraced life with enthusiasm. He especially enjoyed following race cars both on television and in person, his favorite watching his son and grandson any chance he could. He was also an avid fan of football, baseball, and basketball.

His family will always remember his patience, which seemed to have no limits, and his remarkable ability to create, repair, and build. He was gifted in woodworking and could make something meaningful with his hands, often bringing imagination and practical skill to every project. During harvest season, he enjoyed helping his son and grandson by driving bankout wagon and combine, creating more treasured family memories through hard work and time together.

He was a proud grandfather to Ashley Marie, Preston Wayne, Brock Howard Lee, Joseph Lee, and David Sevrin. He was also blessed to be a “Great Papa” to Madison Wynn and Sebastian Wayne. His love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a source of immense pride and joy.

Pete leaves behind a legacy of service, family, patience, craftsmanship, adventure, and love. While his family will deeply miss his presence, stories, laughter, and dependable care, they will carry forward the lessons he taught through the way he lived: love your family, work hard, help others, and make time for the things that make you happy.

The grave side service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at noon at Mountain View Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott in Walla Walla directly following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family may suggest donations in his memory to the David Sevrin Brock Memorial Scholarship through the Blue Mountain Community Foundation.

Our “Papa” “Pete” Preston Brock will forever be dearly loved, deeply respected, and an everlasting presence in our lives. May you find a warm memory of him in your heart the next time you enjoy a sweet Georgia peach or watch a NASCAR race with your family.
