Phyllis Maxine Sawyer

Phyllis Maxine Sawyer passed away peacefully at St. Mary Medical Center on May 28, 2012.

Phyllis was born January 6, 1922 in Upland, California to Erra & Clara Belle Glover. She attended Sharpstein School and graduated from Walla Walla High School then attended Victor’s Beauty School in Walla Walla.

On December 10, 1949, Phyllis married Kenneth E. Sawyer. They lived and worked in Pendleton, Hermiston & John Day, Oregon. After 30 years, Kenny retired from the Army Depot and they moved back to Walla Walla in 1978. They enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, bowling, spending time with family, niece & nephews and their families.

Phyllis is survived by one sister, Betty Malcolm in Vancouver, WA; a niece, Lonna Paul & husband, Bill of Walla Walla; nephew Harold Clark & wife Ellen of Coeur d’Alene, ID; nephew Mick O’Neill & wife Sandy in Vancouver, WA and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth and 1 sister, Lois Clark.

The Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Cemetery, Walla Walla, WA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Society or charity of choice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
