Phyllis Jane Jordan

August 15, 1935 — August 23, 2013

Phyllis Jane (Demory) Jordan, “Demmy,”
of Walla Walla, passed away suddenly
on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at the age of 78. She
was born in Dayton, on Aug. 15, 1935, to Orlena Rebecca
Hays and Leland Jett Demory. Phyllis attended
Dayton Central and Green Park Elementary schools
and graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1953
and also attended Washington State College.

Phyllis married Dale Jordan on her 19th birthday,
Aug. 15, 1954. They had recently celebrated their
59th wedding anniversary.

She was employed by Town and Country Leasing
and Teague Ford, retiring in 1976. She also was involved
in the Little Theater with “The King & I” and
“Miracle Worker.” She was secretary for the Walla
Walla Women’s Bowling Association for eight years
and volunteered for the Walla Walla Fair and Frontier
Days for over 30 years, coordinating the awards
for 4-H and FFA. She loved attending her children
and grandchildren’s sporting events and kept score
for many games. She was very talented at sewing and
crafts.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Jordan, of
Walla Walla; daughters, Debi (Michael) Hartman of
Salem, and Sandy Jordan of Walla Walla; sons, Mike
(Kelly) Jordan of Beaufort, N.C., and Steve (Lauri)
Jordan of Walla Walla; as well as 11 grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept.
7, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the College Place Presbyterian
Church, 325 NE Damson. A lunch reception will be
held at the church following the service. Memorial
contributions can be made to Walla Walla Community
Hospice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral
Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA. Family and

We are thankful for the EMT crew and the emergency
room doctors, nurses and others who assisted
us that day. Also to the many people who have given
their prayers and condolences.
