College Place

Peter John Lyski Jr. passed away on December 12, 2022, at the age of 80, from an abdominal aortic aneurysm. He was born in Portland, Oregon December 25, 1941, at St. Vincent Hospital to Peter and Althea Lyski. Peter was the firstborn of four siblings. He attended Assumption Catholic grade school and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Portland, Oregon. He obtained an associate degree in education from Walla Walla Community College and served in the U.S. Army for eight years. By trade, he was a professional printer working for Crown Zellerbach in Portland, Oregon, later for the James River Corporation and The Print Pack in Newark, Delaware. He took pride in his printing skills when he printed the Wonder Bread wrapper and Brach Candy wrappers, along with many other printing jobs.

He married Barbara Sophie in 1959 and welcomed the birth of their three daughters, Tracy Lee, aka Princess, Brenda Marie, aka Angel, and Elana Kathleen, aka Miss Mouse.

In 1985 Peter moved to the Walla Walla Valley, worked at the Touchet Texaco in Touchet, Washington, for his sister Kathie and Donald Yeager, where he started his salmon smoking business. He later worked at Saxon Printing in Walla Walla, Washington.

On May 13, 1989, he married Marilou Bryarly in the Byzantine Rite of the Catholic Church in Spokane, Washington. Peter's life passion was fishing at Little Goose Dam on the wall with his fishing buddies. He was known as ''Peter the Fisherman". He took great pride in his making of lead sinker balls. He always said he wouldn't die before he caught the largest known fish on the wall. He possibly filled that dream this past November when he caught a wild salmon 37 1/2 inches long weighing 20 pounds.

Peter is survived by his daughters, Tracy L. Geiger, Brenda M. Biggs, and Elana K. Jackson; stepdaughters, Sharron K. McMahan and Carla S. York; three grandchildren, Robbie, Katie, and Jason; two great-grandchildren, Trinity and Nevaeh Hope; a brother, Jerome Lyski; sisters, Kathie Yeager and Andrea Muma; and his beloved Cocker Spaniel, Karma.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilou Lyski, and his parents, Peter J. and G. Althea Lyski.
