Peter Burnham Crawford

March 10, 1953 — April 30, 2025

Walla Walla

A good man, Peter Crawford, passed away on April 30, 2025, after a long and debilitating fight with dementia. He was born on March 10, 1953, in Cody, Wyoming to Alice and JM Crawford. His family moved to Mandan, North Dakota when he was just a few weeks old.

Pete grew up in Mandan, where he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors and respect for the environment. Pete excelled in Band as a teenager. He was selected to be one of two students to represent North Dakota in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade as a Junior in High School. He went on to become an accomplished musician and taught elementary, high school and community college band before completing his educator career at Whitman College. Pete was a versatile musician, playing almost any musical instrument and genre of music. He was a friend to all, and respected and cherished by many.

Pete is survived by his partner and wife of 51 years, Midge; his three sons, Peter and wife Ashley, Christian (Kit) and partner Rose Marie, and Andrew; grandson, Milo; sister, Christina Martin and husband Jim; and brothers, Steve and wife Cindy and Patrick.

Pete loved his family and is dearly missed.
