Pauline passed peacefully at her home with the love of her family surrounding her. Always an uplifting, joyous mother, wife, sister and grandmother, she was also a loving friend and an inspiration to so many. She lived a life of joy, humor and grace, and leaves us all with a wealth of memories.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, the outdoors, fishing, boating and traveling. Her last trip was to be matron of honor at her great-granddaughter’s wedding in September, walking down the aisle and even dancing at the reception with her great-grandson.
She kept her smile, sense of humor and joy of life until her last day with us.
Pauline Schmidt was born Sept. 16, 1915, in Walla Walla. In 1936, she married Roland Loney. They had one daughter, Beverly Elaine. They lived in Walla Walla until their retirement to Cape George Village
in Port Townsend, Wash. While at Cape George, they lived an active life, enjoying Puget Sound and traveling.
After Roland passed away, she continued traveling and met Elmer Chase of Boise, Idaho. They were married in 1990. They enjoyed living in Arizona until they returned to Walla Walla.
She leaves behind so many who are grateful that she enriched their lives. She is survived by her sister, Esther Fortney of Walla Walla; three granddaughters, Kellie and Dwight VanBrunt of Kalispell, Mont.,
Kim and Kevin French of Walla Walla, and Karina and JD McCafferty of Spokane; five cherished greatgrandkids,Ross, Keni, Joe, Garrett and Lexi; and one great-great-granddaughter, Annabel; along with
numerous nieces and nephews she adored.
We will miss her, but we take her spirit and love forward in our lives.
