Our wonderful and loving daddy Paul S. Gonzales Sr., 76, went to be with the Lord, Our Savior on Dec. 12, 2018.
Paul was born in Dexter, New Mexico, on January 2, 1942, to Antonio and Lola Salsido Gonzales. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad as a section foreman for 42 years. Upon his retirement he worked part-time for Walla Walla Public Schools for 5 years. Paul was also very active in St. Patrick Catholic Church providing funeral reception services.
We know he joins the flock of Angels who watch over us every day. As we remember our daddy we think of the most kind-hearted, loving, hard-working man who we know we got our wild side from as well as his work ethic. He loved hard and long. We always knew we could count on him. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back. He would light up any room. He was always a teaser and told the best jokes. He was full of laughter and love. He loved life and everyone around him. We will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his children, Nancy Jensen, Paul Lee Gonzales, Jr., Irene Gonzales (Kirk Hirota), Daniel G. Gonzales (Diane), Juanita Petersen (Dave), and Anthony Gonzales (Jennifer Bailey); and also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and one surviving sister, Linda Sedillo; one surviving brother, Daniel Gonzales; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
A funeral service will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 415 W. Alder Street on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. A private family internment will follow the service.
Memorial donations can be made to Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla.
