Patricia Carolyn Locati

April 28, 1939 — December 17, 2012

Patricia C. Locati, 73, passed away on December 17, 2012 at her home in Walla Walla. She was born on April 28, 1939 in Swea City, Iowa to James and Harriet (Jensen) Doocy.

Patricia grew up on a farm in Iowa. They moved to Walla Walla in 1954. She graduated from St. Pat’s School in 1957. After high school, she attended Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane and graduated in 1960 as a Registered Nurse.

She married her high school sweetheart Frank Locati on September 9, 1961. They celebrated 51 years of marriage this year. Because of her strong faith in the Catholic church, she was an active member of St. Francis Church, the St. Anne’s Altar Society and a regular member of the parish prayer chain.

She began her nursing career in 1962 at Park Manor as a night shift nurse and continued her passion of caring for the elderly by becoming the director of nursing and finished her career as the administrator in 1994. She was well respected in the health community for her leadership and dedication to providing the best care possible to all of her residents. Even though she had a full time career, she always managed to attend their daughter’s sporting and school events. This love for sports continued her desire and drive to attend as many of their grandkid’s games and school events as possible. Rain or shine, she was their #1 fan. In her retirement, she enjoyed taking care of her collection of orchids, camping with family and friends and most of all of her many trips abroad with her husband, daughters, grandkids and her sisters. She made every day count by making memories with her family and especially her grandkids. Her diagnosis of cancer a little over a year ago never held her back. In the past year, she traveled to the coast, many RV campouts, Hawaii for snorkeling, slid down the Vortex Bowl many times at Raptor Reef with her grandkids, day trips to Wildhorse for penny slots and her last big trip to Vegas with her two sisters and daughter, Shauna at the end of October.

Patricia is survived by her husband Frank and 5 daughters, LaWana Harris of Walla Walla, Madonna Locati-Arbogast (Craig) of Walla Walla, Shauna Alcantara (Sean) of Woodinville WA, Melissa Locati-Arellano (Jaime) of Walla Walla, and Patti Cordeiro (Donnie) of Walla Walla. She has 10 grandchildren, Tanner Harris (fiancé Kayla Kelly & son Braxton), Shawn Harris, Avarie Li Arbogast, Spencer, Logan and Kaleilani Cordeiro and Anthony and Joe Arellano all of Walla Walla; and Jada and Blake Alcantara of Woodinville, WA; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters Modonna Doocy of College Place, and Rosemary Jones (Jack and daughter Janelle) of Seattle, WA.

The Rosary will be said Thursday, December 20 at 7:00 PM at St. Francis Catholic Church. A memorial mass to celebrate her life will be held Friday, December 21st at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center, Walla Walla Community Hospice and DeSales Booster Club through Herring-Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
