Patricia Ann Castoldi Bughi

Patricia “Patti” Castoldi Bughi passed away at OSHU hospital in Portland, Oregon, after complications from surgery on January 27, 2025; she was 64 years old. She is survived by her husband, Steve Bughi of Walla Walla; three daughters, Melissa Michael (Steve) of Walla Walla, Jillian Monetta (Anthony) of Winthrop, and Andrea Bughi-Johnson (Eric) of Walla Walla; and her brothers, Robert and Paul Castoldi of Walla Walla.  She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren: Cole Michael, Angelo Joseph (AJ) Michael, Eva Michael, Graham Johnson, Grayson Johnson, Garrett Johnson, Levi Michael, Lucca Monetta, Joseph Michael, Lane Monetta, and Zeke Michael.

Mom was born on June 12, 1960, to Angelo and Vivian Castoldi at St. Mary’s Hospital in Walla Walla. She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Elementary School from 1st to 3rd grade, Davis Elementary School, and then Sager Middle School through 8th grade. She attended DeSales High School, where she was active in cheerleading.

Growing up, Mom spent much of her time helping out on the family farm, and many of those hours were dedicated to topping onions with her younger brother.

After graduating high school in 1978, she attended Kinman Business School in Spokane to pursue a medical transcription certification. After completing her business program, she returned to Walla Walla and started working at the General Hospital as a medical transcriptionist. From the General Hospital, she moved on to work at the Walla Walla Clinic and later Providence St. Mary Medical Center.

Mom was an active member of St. Francis Parish, both as a lector and as a member of St. Anne’s Alter Society.

She initially met our dad, Steve, at Davis Elementary School. They attended grade school and middle school together but then lost touch when they went to separate high schools. They re-connected in the early spring of 1982. They were married on February 19, 1983, at St. Francis Parrish here in Walla Walla. They purchased their current home and acreage in the spring of 1985.

In her free time, Mom loved to travel and spend time with her family. Some of her favorites included multiple Disney Land trips, mother/daughter trips, family vacations, and yearly camping trips with her extended family and friends. The annual Wallowa Lake camping trip with her brothers, neighborhood friends, and their families was something she had always looked forward to.

Mom loved watching her 11 grandkids grow up. She attended every school function and sporting event and was the first in line for every school fundraiser.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister.

Viewing and Visitation will be on Thursday, February 6, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of the Herring Funeral Home with the Rosary following at 6:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Francis Catholic Church.
