Pablo Balderas Jr., 73, of Walla Walla, left this world to be with his Lord and
Saviour on June 30, 2017, in Walla Walla.
Viewing will begin at 3 p.m., Thursday, July 6, at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home with the Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 7, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. There will be no graveside service.
Pablo was born September 17, 1943, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, to Maria Luisa (Navejas) and Pablo Balderas Sr. He was the 8th of 12 children. He came to the U.S. as a young boy, traveling and working, eventually landing in Weiser, Idaho, where he met the love of his life. Pablo and Francisca Chavarria were married in Weiser on January 22, 1963, and were blessed with a daughter, Consuelo in November of that year and a son, David in the summer of 1972.
Pablo worked various jobs over the years, eventually working for Whitman College for 27 years. He was a hard-working and supportive husband, father and grandfather, and was well known for his sense of humor and big smile. He was a cheerful, happy man who loved fishing, camping, gardening and had a talent for fixing appliances. He also loved spending time with friends and his extended family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, as people with his personality rarely grace our lives.
Pablo is survived by his wife, Francis of Walla Walla; daughter, Connie Spence (Rick) of Walla Walla; son, David (Corina) of Kalispell, Montana; four brothers, Jesus (Concha) of Texas, Jose of Walla Walla, Franciso (Eva) of San Angelo, Texas, Juan (Renee) of Las Vegas; sister, Carmen Alcazar (Jorge) of Pasco; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; an enormous
amount of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Luis; and five sisters, Vicenta, Antonia, Felipa, Maria and Crecencia.
