Orville Jesse Headding, 93, passed away September 9, 2015 at the Washington Odd Fellows Home in Walla Walla.

He was born December 22, 1921 in Buffalo, Oklahoma to George & Myrtle Headding. Orville was the 6 th of 8 children.

Orville joined the US Navy in 1942 and served as Quartermaster First Class on the USS President Jackson. He attended Kansas State College. Orville worked 30 years for the Washington State Highway Department, retiring as District Engineer at Walla Walla. He also worked 10 years for the US Postal Service before final retirement at age 66.

Orville loved spending time with his family traveling and golfing. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and an advocate for veterans.

Orville is survived by his wife at home, Lauretta; daughter, Debra Meck; sons-in-law, Dan Furrow & Tim Meck; 3 grandsons, Todd Daniel, Daniel & Andy Furrow; 7 great grandchildren & 2 great great grandsons. Orville is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen; granddaughter, Kimberly; his parents; 5 brothers & 2 sisters.

A private family graveside service is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walla Walla VFW Post 992 or Paralyzed Veterans through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W.
