Odetta Bethene Reiber

Odetta Bethene Reiber, 97, of Walla Walla, passed away on December 30, 2011.

She was born February 9, 1914 in Newton, Iowa to Earl & Bessie Wonder Hickman. Odetta grew up in Farmington, Washington with three sisters and three brothers.

She met a dashing young German Wheat farmer in a Model T Ford named Johnny Reiber and they were married on September 16, 1931. They had three children, Orville Reiber (Lurae), Carol Ames (Roy) & Sheri Neel (John).

Odetta was a wonderful homemaker and used the nickname of “Pate” most of her life. She was a kind, gracious, honest woman and was always there for her children. She and her family always happily enjoyed socializing with friends and especially baking homemade goodies at home.

Later in Odetta’s life, she was baptized in the Lord & became a deaconess for the Walla Walla City Adventist Church.

When her husband, Johnny, retired, Odetta discovered that she loved fishing and went on many fishing expeditions with friends and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 2005; her parents; 2 grandchildren, Lisa Argenbright Neel and Ames Baby; 3 brothers & 3 sisters. She is survived by her children, 6 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, Myra Road in College Place, Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charity of Choice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
