Last of nine children born to Nettie and Henry Russell on May 21, 1921 on the family farm in Molalla, Oregon. Died on July 24, 2017 at Kadlec Medical Center, Richland, Washington.
She attended with fond memories: Teasel Creek Elementary, a one room, one teacher school covering all eight grades and Molalla High School, graduating in 1940. Norma married Bruce Arnold in 1951 and after three years, resigned her nursing position to be a full time homemaker and mother for Bruce's two daughters. Norma enjoyed nursing but received greater satisfaction in caring for her family. Son, Paul, was born in 1959. They moved from Seattle to Window Rock, Arizona in 1970. When Bruce retired in 1973 they moved to Salem, Oregon so she could be closer to her family. They moved to Walla Walla in 1995 to be close to their son Paul and family and remained there. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her many friends and family throughout her life. She loved going on scenic drives, especially to the coast. She also enjoyed cooking from scratch creating food that was enjoyed by all.
Norma was a member of NARFE Chapter 0237. She was active in the Episcopal Church, taught Sunday School and served as chairman of several organizations. She worked on the Alter Guild and did ecclesiastical stitchery.
