Neil Rhodelle Witt

Neil Rhodelle Witt, 74, passed away at his home in Waitsburg, Washington on January 31, 2012.

Neil was born on January 1, 1938 to King and Margaret (Devine) Witt in Walla Walla, Washington. Neil attended school in Walla Walla and Waitsburg. He joined the Army right out of high school and received an honorable discharge in 1963. Neil married Beryl Hall in 1960 and worked as a farmhand for Ellsworth Conover for 20 years. He then started his own business, Witt Excavating and worked at it until his body would no longer allow him. Everyone who knew Neil understood how passionate he was about his family and friends, the mountains and animals, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his sister Ann Barr, daughters, Carol White and Patty Eng, son-in-law Marvin Eng, son, Tony Witt and daughter-in-law Joanne Blodgett; grandchildren, Jennifer Catlett, husband Kevin Catlett, K.C. and Kyla Winger, Loren and Sydney Eng, Madeleine and Riley Witt; great grandchildren Paige and Parker Catlett and Aaliyah Hubbard and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Neil was preceded in death by his father, King Witt and mother, Margaret Witt.

The service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2012 at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla. Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice through the funeral home. There will be a reception following the service at Ye Town Hall in Waitsburg.
